Louis Barani is a security risk management specialist with over 20 years of private sector experience as a global terrorism risk consultant. Louis is expertly trained to determine how well his clients are positioned against theoretical terrorist attacks. His multi-hazard evaluations include a wide spectrum of potential threats such as hijackings, assassinations, kidnappings, bomb scares, bombings, cyber-attacks, and chemical, biological, nuclear, and radioactive weapons. Louis also holds professional affiliations with groups such as the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), the Security and Risk Management Association, the International Association of Emergency Managers, the American Society for Industrial Security, the Project Management Institute, and the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators.
Louis Barani has achieved a long list of other accomplishments to date. In his role as Chief of Operations for the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, Louis managed security for aviation, tunnels, bridges, and commuter rails. As an adjunct professor and senior fellow of the Homeland Security Management Institute at Long Island University, Louis Barani developed and taught a graduate-level course on Risk Management for Critical Infrastructure Protection. He worked on preventative measures regarding Man-Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS) and was a vulnerability assessor for commercial aircraft. Louis developed Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) exercises for US military bases. He designed a Port Authority Design Basis Threat methodology and provided technical expertise in perimeter intrusion detection system planning.
